What are the trenches?

In crypto slang, 'the trenches' are the stream of brand-new memecoins — tokens minutes or hours old. Trench trading (or 'trench trade') means buying and selling these early tokens, usually through fast trading terminals or Telegram bots.

How the trenches work

Many memecoins launch on a launchpad with a bonding curve: the price rises as people buy until the curve completes, then liquidity migrates to a decentralised exchange. Terminals show this pipeline as columns — new, near migration, migrated. Trojan calls its view the Trenches explorer; Axiom calls its version Pulse.

Tools trench traders use

  • Memecoin terminals — web apps for discovery and fast execution (e.g. Axiom, GMGN, Trojan).
  • Telegram trading bots — trade from chat (e.g. GMGN and Trojan bots).
  • Social trading apps — follow other traders (e.g. Fomo).
  • Analytics tools and launchpads — related, but not trading terminals.

What it costs

Terminals we've checked charge around 1% per trade, plus network fees, priority fees and slippage. Use the fee calculator to see every component separately.

Risks

Most tokens in the trenches lose value quickly; rug pulls, bundled supply and bot activity are common. Only use money you can afford to lose, and verify every platform link — phishing clones are widespread.

Not to be confused with Trench.io

Trench.io is a separate stock-price trading product with a payout multiplier. It is not a memecoin terminal. See our Trench.io review.
